Haley's V-neck pull-over

This sweater was done with the same Ann Norling pattern as Anna's watermelon sweater. Poor Haley always gets the least-inspired creations by virtue of my always doing her project first when I'm doing a series. That's because if I intend to do a series for all three girls and then don't see it through, if I begin in Haley's size at least all three will age through being able to wear it.

So I think this sweater is kind of boring and doesn't fit particularly wel.. The sleeves are way too big at cuff. It looks cute with this skirt and jeans, though. But from now on I'm just going to custom create their patterns for simple stuff like this in the Wizard because this is just so boxy...bleh.

The fiber is Sierra Quattro---the same as for my Krista Tee and Anna's Watermelon sweater. Nice yarn.

Prism Coolstuff Shawl

When you have stunning yarn it only makes sense to keep your knitting as simple as your garment will allow---all eyes should be on the fiber. This Prism Coolstuff shawl is a simple stockinette rectangle edged with a ribbon yarn whose name escapes me to keep it from rolling. It is beautiful.

I had purchased this yarn as an indulgence for myself after a lot of traveling and very hard work in the fall of 2004. I think I was not even home from the yarn store before my Mom told me that Beth was in serious trouble and I should get to NY right away. I sat in her room and knit this up, not knowing whether to hope she would get better or not...

Seriously, its much prettier than it looks here.

Tunic Vest

Made strictly from personal measurements and fooling with specs in Sweater Wizard, this gorgeous vest looks fabulous with an indigo knit outfit I have and a pair of high heeled boots. I knit this up in very little time, actually, considering how long it is and how bored you can get with yards of stockinette stitch. It was done in four pieces which was kind of a drag. I did it in Laurel (mercerized cotton), Billie Holiday colorway. It is very rich and has great hand feel.

It took some tweaking in the arm holes and shaping the waist to produce a garment that didn't look like a big sack but it was more than worth the effort. I LOVE this vest. I usually wear it with a big sparkly brooch holding it closed smack dab between my hooters just in case anyone even thinks about overlooking them! HA!

Little Girl Cardiagans

These sweaters were knit in the middle of 2005; Haley's finished in March, Anna's in April. I bought the yarn for Lindsay's while I was in LA in May and bought the buttons in September or October so it was done some time in between.

Pattern: Pure and Simple Cardigans for Children

Fiber(s):

Haley's: Wool in the Woods -- Berry (97% Cotton/3% Acrylic)

Anna's: Laurel -- Judy Garland (100% mercerized Pima Cotton) aka Fruit Loop Sweater Lindsay's: Trendsetter's Scoubidu (50/50 Cotton/Poly) aka Ice Cream Cone Sweater

I liked the ease of this pattern for a top down raglan, all in one piece sweater. Its not holding up as well as I might have liked, though; the button bands are pulled out of shape. I'm going to wash and block to see if it hangs back in original shape. At any rate, aren't they cute???

Haley has nearly outgrown hers; Anna, too. These were knit size 4 - 6, I think. I'll have to put new ones on my list. Maybe for Christmas. Maybe I'm good enough for that now, that I could get it done quickly and behind the scenes. Hmmm. Time for a trip to the yarn shop?

Krista Progress: 9/4/06

OK, I wrote this post once and it went into the cybersphere...let's do it again.

The Krista Tee is knitting up very fast, very nicely. I did the waist shaping using my Lantern Moon circs and as much I do really like the feel of the rosewood, I have trouble with the join on the purl side of the work. That's kind of a drag. It was kind of grabbing my plyed cotton and yanking it. Not good. I worked around it well enough but it was still something of a relief to go back to the Addi Turbos. And frankly, the rosewood of the Lantern Moons don't feel as good as the Crystal Palaces, IMHO. Still nice, though.

I've managed to make two errors in the very simple lace pattern already. If you look closely you'll be able to tell but they weren't bad enough to cause me to rip back. Yet. In case you're interested that's K4, K2tog, yo K1, yo SSK. That's it kids; couldn't be easier. Purl every other row.
